Kitso Phillip Phiri

Executive Secretary Botswana Mineworkers Union

Kitso Phillip Phiri serves as the Executive Secretary of Botswana Mine Workers Union (BMWU). He advocates for the rights and interests of workers in mining, energy, works, chemicals and allied industries. In his role as the Executive Secretary, he is responsible for driving the implementation of the Union’s strategy;  acts as chief advisor to the union leadership and facilitates the realization of the Unions investment ambitions. He coordinates secretariat activities and oversees the administrative functions of the Mine Workers Union.

Mr Phiri is also an international development practitioner, with experience working at national and regional level. He has a stellar track record working on various aspects of policy, decent work, natural resources governance, sustainable development and business and human-rights.

He is passionate about sustainable mineral development in Botswana and corporate social accountability
