Kostas Bintas

Global Co-Head of Metals and Minerals Trafigura

Kostas Bintas was appointed Co-Head of Trafigura’s Metals and Minerals division in December 2021 to jointly oversee the division’s trading activities.

Kostas joined Trafigura in 2009, trading aluminium and copper from the company’s Lucerne and Singapore offices, before being appointed in 2014 to the role of Head of Copper Trading based from the Geneva hub office. During this time, he successfully led the integration of Trafigura’s copper derivatives and physical trading activities and played an instrumental role in enabling the growth of the company’s business in Africa, developing close synergies across the copper concentrates and refined products trading teams.

Prior to joining Trafigura, Kostas worked for Stemcor and the World Trade Organisation.

A Greek national, Kostas holds a Master’s in International Trade Law from the Graduate Institute, Geneva.
