Lawrenta Jacinta Igoh
Lawrenta Jacinta Igoh is a human trafficking prevention and child protection advocate with over five years of experience working with the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) in Nigeria. Currently, Lawrenta Jacinta Igoh is an intelligence analyst in the Reforms Unit, where she plays a critical role in analyzing Nigeria’s narrative in the Annual Global Trafficking in Persons Report, recommending best practices to management, and drafting strategic action plans. Lawrenta also currently leads the Auxano Foundation for Empowerment and Development, an organization she created in 2012 to prevent the root causes of human trafficking. She works with volunteers to promote social good for impoverished communities, mobilize action, and build community resilience. They also help victims and potential victims of trafficking to recover and heal through empowerment and education. Lawrenta is currently writing her thesis for a master’s degree in Defense and Strategic Studies. Lawrenta’s volunteer and professional work is driven by her deep concern the many impoverished and vulnerable Nigerians whose rights are often stifled. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Lawrenta hopes to play a leadership role in shaping policies for NAPTIP to combat human trafficking.
