Leon Greyling
Mr Greyling started his career at Alexander Forbes when Alexander Forbes Asset Consultants was formed in 1995, later becoming head of this division. He successfully ran the division for three years. He joined Investment Solutions (now Alexander Forbes Investments) in 2000, starting up its larger funds’ specialised offering, its structured products offering and Investment Solutions Namibia. He was appointed an executive director of Investment Solutions in 2003, responsible for all client-facing functions for both its retail and institutional divisions.
He left in 2008 to join Sygnia Asset Management for 18 months as deputy chief executive officer, before moving to the Momentum Group (now MMI Holdings) as chief executive officer of Advantage Asset Managers in 2010. During this time he was also CEO of Momentum Alternative Investments, Momentum Investment Consulting and their respective unit trust businesses. He also served on the board of MMI’s UK-based subsidiary, Momentum Global Investment Management.
Having joined the loss-making Advantage Asset Managers, Leon helped rescue the business and turn it around with profits in excess of R100 million a year and assets that had grown in value five-fold during his tenure. Before leaving MMI, Leon was managing executive of MMI Corporate & Public Sector Channels (including investments, insurance, health and rewards) and MMI Specialised Solutions, a financial wellness advisory and actuarial services provider.
