Letta Mbulu

Letta Mbulu is a singer from the Johannesburg town Soweto, and is becoming a sensation in South Africa and internationally with her fine voice. As a teenager, Letta got involved with the famous musical “King Kong,” touring England for a year which then followed a two year run in South Africa. After the musical ended, Letta returned to South Africa only to unfortunately be forced to leave the country due to Apartheid.

Letta Mbulu’s first singing outcome was in the group, Letta and the Safaris in which she played with her husband, Caiphus Semenya. In the 90’s Letta recorded a jazz classic single, “What’s Wrong with Groovin” as a solo artist for a small label where soon after it was released by another label.

Letta Mbulu and her stunning voice were honored in 2001 by The South African Music Awards with the lifetime achievement award. Bigger things are to come for this local talent who is becoming a hit both locally and internationally.
