Lily Obenewaa Asare

Lily Obenewaa Asare currently works for the Ministry of Health and serves as the Principal for the SDA Midwifery and Health Assistants Training School at Asanta. She has a special interest in research, capacity building, and organizational development. Lily has established a youth leadership club called Friends of the Pregnant Woman to help reduce the high maternal mortality rates in rural communities in Ghana. Lily Obenewaa Asare is a registered nurse and a nurse educator with a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences Education from the Cape Coast University and a master’s degree in Public Health from the Walden University. Upon completion of the Washington Fellowship, Lily plans to build capacity in rural communities and empower women and youth to have the tools to address maternal health issues.
