Maboreng Maharaswa
Dr Maboreng Maharaswa was appointed to her current position in July 2009. She holds a PhD in Higher Education Studies, a Master of Education degree in Psychology from the University of the Free State, and a BA in Education from the University of Lesotho. Dr Maharaswa was previously head of the Free State Department of Social Development, and also held the post of chief director of Higher Education Policy at the Central University of Technology.
Her career as a researcher culminated in the publication of nationally and internationally accredited journal articles and chapters in peer-reviewed books. She has presented papers and conducted research in the fields of policy, quality in higher education, student access, strategic management and indigenous knowledge systems. Dr Maharaswa developed the Human Resource Management and Development Strategy and the Poverty Alleviation Strategy.
She is currently the chairperson of the Provincial Skills Development Forum and the Provincial Technical Bursary Committee. Dr Maharaswa is also a member of the Ministerial task team on recognition of prior learning appointed by the Minister of Higher Education and Training. She also serves on the human resource development provincial coordinating forum.
