Mandingha Kosso Etoka-Beka

Mandingha Kosso Etoka-Beka is a Ph.D. student in her fourth and final year of research, preparing her thesis in molecular biology and applied immunology at the Universite Marien Ngouabi of Congo. Her work is based on studying symptomatic malaria in children carrying the sickle cell trait and is done at the only private molecular biology laboratory in her country; the Fondation Congolaise pour la Recherche Medicale. Mandingha tutors biology at her university. Mandingha Kosso Etoka-Beka is motivated by her love for research and sharing knowledge and new experiences with others. She encourages young girls interested in science to pursue their career in their communities, as people tend to diminish and discourage girls in such careers. This is why she works hard on getting all the necessary experiences, scientific and administrative, in order to one day open up a scientific laboratory where she can coach, teach, share her experiences, and bring in her contribution to upraise the scientific world. At the end of the Mandela Washington Fellowhip, she hopes to gain more knowledge on public management as she is called to lead up a group of scientists in a near future. Stayed in Africa.
