Mapendo Justine Sumuni
Mapendo Justine Sumuni has over seven years’ experience in various fields. Currently, Mapendo is a procurement and logistics assistant at the International Organization for Migration, where she focuses on logistic management. Mapendo Justine Sumuni is also a founder of Kivu Nuru, where she focuses on empowering and promoting local artists and artisans. She has completed a professional internship in logistics at the People in Need NGO. While studying, she was one of the events organizing members for the university, an active member of a youth group, promoting local musicians, a radio entertainer, a volunteer as national observer during the 2006 DRC election, and a decorator for the ballet RENAF. Mapendo obtained her bachelor’s degree in Science and Technical Development from ISM in Bukavu. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship(Africa), Mapendo plans to continue her work in promoting artisanal products as well as artists, with a focus on capacity building through a creative center.
