Marcellina Mvula Chijoriga

Prof. Marcellina Mvula Chijoriga is an Associate Professor in Finance and Business Management at the University of Dar es Salaam Business School. She holds Doctorate degree in Economics and Business Administration, from Witschaftsuniersitat Wien (WU), Vienna, Austria; andMBA, Finance, from Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium; Postgraduate Diploma in Institutional Economics, from University of Connecticut, USA; and a B. Com Accounting, from University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Prof. Chijoriga has worked for the University of Dar es Salaam for the past 34 years. Within the University of Dar es Salaam she has held various academic and administrative positions including being Dean of the University of Dar es Salaam, Business School (6 years), Head of Department of Finance (8 years), Financial Controller of Donor Funded Projects (5 years), and Director of Public Service, University of Dar es Salaam (1 year).

Prof.Chijoriga’sprofessional expertise and strength are in finance and business management. She is a seasoned trainer and facilitator for both public and private enterprise in the area infinance, business management; program/project planning, management monitoring and evaluation; entrepreneurship and governance. She has researched and published numerous books, journal and conference papers singly and jointly. She is good in fund raising and developing strategic partnerships for research activities; women and youth programs; academic programs; and outreach and entrepreneurship programs. She was the founder of the 10,000 International Women program and graduate internship program(GRIP).

Prof. Chijoriga has consulted for various local and international organizations including government ministries, departments and agencies; development partners; private sector organizations and non-governmental organizations(NGOs). She is currently a Management Consultant to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) and supported and facilitated the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries (MALF) in the finalization of Agricultural Sector Development Program II(ASDPII) which was launched by his Excellency the President of United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. John Joseph Pombe Magufuli on 4thJune, 2018.

She has eighteen (18) years of experience in board management and governance having served and continue serving on a number of public, private and international boards and committees, including being a Board Chairperson and member of the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA(9 ½); Presidential Trust Fund (PTF) ); (11 years); Consolidated Holding Corporation (CHC)(3years). She has also been a board member to National Bank of Commerce (NBC)(5 years); National Development Corporation(NDC)(6 years);, Economic and Social Research Foundation (ESRF)(6 years); Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA)( 6 years); Da es Salaam Water and Sewage Company (DAWASCO)(4 years); Mkombozi Commercial Bank (5 years), Fair Competition Commission (FCC)(2 ½ years ), and Cashew Board of Tanzania(CBT(2 ½ ). Internationally she has been a member of the International Monetary Fund Advisory Group of the Sub-Saharan Africa (IMF-AGSA)(3 years); member of the policy advisory group of the World Bank in Tanzania (4 years), board member of the Association of African Business Schools (AABS)(6 years), Vice President of the Operations Research Society of Eastern Africa(6 years).

Marcellina is married with four children and five grand children.
