Margaret-Ann Diedericks
Ms Margaret-Ann Diedricks was appointed as Director-General in September 2012. Prior to her appointment, Ms Diedricks was chief operating officer for the Ekurhuleni Metro from 2011. She holds a Master of Psychology degree from the University of the Western Cape and completed the Advanced Executive Programme at the University of South Africa Business School. Ms Diedricks, a former teacher and lecturer, has 15 years’ experience in the public service.
She joined the Gauteng Provincial Legislature as a Research Services Manager in 1996. She occupied the positions of director of Information and Liaison Services, as well as Deputy Provincial Secretary from 2002 to 2006. Ms Diedricks was the head of the provincial Department of Community Safety from 2006 to 2009. While there, she oversaw the successful turnaround of administrative systems which led to the achievement of a clean audit and an award for the Best Reporting Department by the South African Institute of Government Auditors. She was then appointed the chief operating officer, and briefly assumed the acting Director- General post in the Office of the Premier, after which she joined the Ekurhuleni Metro as a specialist advisor to the city manager.
