Margarida Graciete Simbine
Margarida Simbine is currently a PhD student in Agriculture at Tshwane University of Technology in Pretoria. She has over five years’ experience in community development, particularly in working with smallholder farmers to address the root causes of low agricultural productivity. This is considered one of the major causes of poverty in Mozambique(Africa) because the majority of farmers have limited access to modern production technologies. Before joining Tshwane University, Margarida Graciete Simbine was a project manager of the Adaptation Learning Program at CARE International in Mozambique, a program whose overarching goal is to increase the capacity of vulnerable households to adapt to climate variability and change. Margarida holds a master’s degree in Sustainable Soil Resource Management from the University of Nairobi. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship and her PhD degree, Margarida plans to continue working with smallholder farmers, women in particular, to support them in raising their agricultural productivity and income.
