Matarr Touray
Matarr Touray is a regulatory economist specializing in emerging markets utilities, particularly information and communications technology (ICT), and energy. His role is to support the growth of competition through tariff regulation and market definition to ensure that the typical Gambian benefits from these key sectors.Matarr Touray has built mutually beneficial partnerships with specialist study groups in the International Telecommunications Union and NARUC in ICT regulation, and renewable energy developments. He believes that Africa’s developmental gaps can be bridged through the development of the right technology and energy infrastructure. Matarr is a founding member of the West African International School Alumni Association. Upon completion of the Fellowship, he plans to further help young Gambians attain their dreams through continuous mentorship. The correct guidance (as he has benefited from) will be immense in creating the right path for African youth to build and retain the requisite human capital for the continent’s progress.
