MAWAT’s debut album BLESSED was released on 1 November 2016 and featured Sjava, Sfiso Ncwane, Maraza and Masandi. His follow up album PRESSURE is dropping in November 2018 with the lead single Mollo already making waves across Mzansi. Remember the name: Mawat.
Mawat’s media appearance sheet includes Channel O, Live Amp (SABC1), Big Up (SABC1), Ukhozi FM, Y FM, Massive Metro, Metro FM, Cliff Central, SlikourOnLife, Daily Sun, Ilanga and many others…
The ghetto soundtrack Mollo is Mawat’s latest single currently heard across all hoods in Mzansi, Swaziland and Botswana. The song title translated “Fire” boosts with a semi-kwaito backtrack with a hectic bassline and a hypnotic sing-along hook: “Mollo, Mollo, Ke batla Mollo” which is Mawat’s way of saying he needs more fire to fuel his purpose, passion and mission.
Mollo was officially released on the 24th of August 2018 with a special social media performance which trended on Twitter and Instagram on the day. With good omen of being recorded in LA, during Mawat’s US Tour in December 2017, it is of no wonder that the song has since received high rotation on Ukhozi FM and Metro FM. The music video, shot and directed by Omen – The Chef, is set to hit the telly late September.
The clean rapper, Mawat, manages to combine an inspirational message with a vibey mood on this one to create a uniquely South African township anthem. If you are young at heart, filled with purpose and loves to have fun, then Mollo will appeal to you.
