Maya Fisher-French

Cape Town based Maya Fisher-French is a well-known South African finance writer and author of Maya on Money: Implement Your Money Plan – a practical guide to everyday finances. She edited the South African version of Dave Ramsey’s best seller “The Total Money Makeover”.  She also presents a money tip show on eNCA called ‘Money Matters’.

Maya won the Sanlam Award for Excellence in Financial Journalism under the category of Consumer Financial Education for both 2013 and 2015 and is the editor of ‘My Money My Lifestyle’, the personal finance section of national Sunday newspaper City Press.

As invited columnist and commentator across several media channels including magazines, radio and television, Maya is a popular speaker at both local and international events where she provides a consumers’ perspective on the financial industry. She also provides money management workshops for employees.

Prior to becoming a financial journalist in 2003, Maya worked in the financial industry for stockbroking firm BJM, prior to which she worked for Investec Private Bank as a consultant on their direct investment desk.

In 2006 she received the award for Best Newcomer in the Sanlam Journalist of the Year awards for articles published in business magazine Maverick

Maya has a Bachelor of Arts in English and an Honours degree in Economics from the University of the Witwatersrand.
