Meagan van den Berg

Executive Southern Africa AECI

Meagan matriculated in 2003 from a technical high school in the Eastern Cape and was able to pursue her interest in engineering after being awarded a bursary by the De Beers Groups to study towards a BSC. Mining Engineering degree at the University of the Witwatersrand. After graduating, Meagan was offered an opportunity to join the AECI Group through the AEL Mining Explosives business where she completed her qualification as an Explosives Engineer in 2010 and has enjoyed working across the continent, in multiple mining applications in her chosen profession of mining explosives and technical services.

During her tenure, Meagan developed an interest in business and went on to complete a Master’s in Business Administration degree from the Gordon Institute of Business Science is 2014 and has since held various senior leadership positions within AECI Mining Explosives. Most recently Meagan was appointed as the Executive for the Southern Africa region and also serves as chairperson of various Boards across the business segment.

Meagan has a passion for the mining industry due to its long legacy of providing employment and value for South Africa and the continent at large but more specifically because she has a great admiration for the people within the industry who continuously demonstrate true camaraderie and passion for their profession.  Meagan aims to contribute to the sustainability, safety and prosperity of the industry for many years to come and to make the industry equally accessible and attractive to all persons who seek a career in mining.
