Michael Jordaan
Michael Jordaan is the Chairman of Mxit, a South African-created mobile social network. Formerly, he was Chief Executive Officer of the First National Bank of Southern Africa, one of the largest banks in South Africa with operations in seven other African countries. The bank’s profit after tax is over US$ 1 billion with a customer base in excess of 9 million. Jordaan has more than 20 years of experience in the financial services sector, having started his career as a Corporate Banker with Deutsche Bank in Hamburg and then Frankfurt. He has a longstanding track record with the FirstRand Group, having joined the management development programme with Rand Merchant Bank in Johannesburg in 1994. He has also held various chief executive positions throughout the FirstRand Group, including Origin Bank (which later rebranded as RMB Private Bank), FNB Home Loans and eBucks.com. After having successfully launched eBucks.com in 2000, Jordaan moved to First National Bank in 2002 to head up its Retail Products Division.
