Mishaya Chettiar
Mishaya Chettiar has a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Information Systems, Honours Degree in Information Systems, and Strategic Management and Innovation
Mishaya Chettiar is breaking grounds in the insurance sector by co-founding a world first digital insurance platform called Everything.Insure.
She has led a small team of passionate people who aim to change the insurance industry and demystify insurance for consumers.
She has built a digital platform that gives users multiple insurance quotes from the top insurers in the market (previously intermediated insurers) and allows users to actually bind immediately. This platform gives quotes for multiple types of insurance and then allows users to have all their insurance policies in one place, regardless of insurer. Like internet banking on steroids – where they can edit, cancel and claim. There are amazing tools for brokers and young entrepreneurs to use the platform, not just direct users.
She has gotten major insurers to buy in and broken ceilings in the insurance industry that seemed impossible. She is creating opportunities for young entrepreneurs to start a business in insurance without the red tape and qualifications because the platform is licensed as the digital broker so it makes insurance accessible for all and allows jobs to be created through the Everything. Insure business partners program. She is setting up a foundation (section 18A) that will create jobs for disadvantaged individuals to be able to build businesses for themselves and generate annuity income, receiving support and training along the way.
She is passionate about revolutionising industries through technology and empowering consumers. She has a series of social media videos aiming to educate consumers on the industry that often gets misunderstood.
She is not an insurance person but rather a strategic thinker, problem solver, innovator and game changer that wants to change the way things have been done in order to make them as effective and efficient as possible. She has great dreams of changing many industries through technology and addressing world problems through philanthropic efforts.
At 36 she has achieved incredible results in the platform that has been built thus far and has already seen incredible success as it launched a few months ago – with major partners like Old Mutual and Vodacom wanting to partner already and many major players wanting to invest.
In an industry that is filled with many older white males, it is incredible for a young, female of colour to have started such great change and buy in and have built such an incredible platform with such a small team and very small funding. Can’t wait to see what she will do next.
Mishaya started her career as a management consultant at Accenture.
