Mohamed El Moustapha Melainine Mouhoud
Mohamed El Moustapha Melainine Mouhoud has over seven years of experience in the migration field. During the refugee crisis in Europe, Mailainine volunteered with the Red Cross Foundation, Caritas International Organization, and the Fedasil Refugees Center in Belgium. He simultaneously worked as a full-time employee at Brussels Samusocial, an urban social emergency response organization to fight against exclusion. After ten years abroad, Mohamed El Moustapha Melainine Mouhoud returned to Mauritania with his acquired knowledge and determination to make a change to work for the UN Agency For Migration as the Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration Program (AVRR) Focal Point. Assisting vulnerable, stranded migrants with various illnesses including HIV/AIDS, Mailainine is also the United States Refugee Admissions and Canada Resettlement Program Focal Point of the UN Agency for Migration.Outside of his work, Mailainine is the head of the committee of El Ourwa El Wouthqa cooperative, composed of four small-specialized shops held by around 16 women, some of who are migrants. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship(Africa), Mailainine plans to create a specialized training center to ensure better follow-up and insertions programs after secondary education and vocational training in Mauritania.
