Mokoditloa Eliakim (Alec) Moemi
Mr Alec Moemi is Director-General of Sport and Recreation, a position he has held since November 2011. He obtained a Master’s degree in Political Governance and Transformation from the University of the Free State, and a B Juris degree from the University of North-West in South Africa. Further qualifications include programmes in the management of corporate communication from the University of Witswatersrand Business School and a cer tificate in public relations.
Mr Moemi was previously employed as the national administrator for the ANC. He has served as manager for the Umsobomvu Youth Fund, now the National Youth Development Agency, and was the CEO of the Free State Youth Commission. He has been very active in the student movement, including serving as chairperson of the South African Student Congress, as member and later president of the Student Representative Council, the Congress of South African Students, the South African Students’ Press Union, and the South African Students Congress. Mr Moemi was a council member of the University of North-West, a member of the provincial executive committee of the Black Management Forum in the Free State, and also a member of the Public Relations Institute of Southern Africa.
