Mondli Gungubele

Mr Mondli Gungubele is the Deputy Minister of Finance from 27 February 2018. Born on 1 February 1957, Mr Gungubele was the previous Mayor of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality. He has a BCom (Law) Degree and also holds a National Diploma in Nursing.

Mr Gungubele has also headed the Economic Affairs Portfolio Committee in the Gauteng Provincial Legislature (2004-2007). He has also been the MEC for Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture (1999-2004), MEC for Health (1997-1999) and MEC for Social Development and Community Services (1994-1997) in Gauteng.

In the African National Congress, Mr Gungubele served as Chairperson of the party’s Vosloorus branch in 1992. Prior to this, he was an educator at the Falo Senior Secondary School from 1980 to 1981.
