Mrs Joana Bannerman

Mrs Joana Bannerman was appointed as Managing Director of Access Bank Zambia in November 2016. Prior to her appointment as MD for Access Bank Zambia, Mrs Joana Bannerman was Group Head, Commercial Banking for Access Bank Ghana Ltd.

Mrs Joana Bannerman holds a BSc. (Hons) in Agriculture (Economics Major) from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and an MBA (Finance) from the University of Ghana. She is an astute banker with vast working experience in the financial services industry.

Joana began her career in 1991 at the Women’s World Bank as Project Officer and thereafter worked with the US Peace Corps. In 1993, she joined the Agricultural Development Bank as an Officer in the Foreign Operations Department, where she was part of a pioneering team that established the Western Union Money Transfer Service in Ghana. She later served in several Management positions at the Bank including Head of Commercial Credit at the Gulf House Branch and Branch Manager at the Dansoman Branch where she managed key customer accounts. Joana was later recruited by the Guaranty Trust Bank Ghana in 2006 as Head of Foreign Operations Unit. During her tenure, she also became the Group Head for Commercial Banking & Trade Finance.
