Musand Melody Kromah
Musand Melody Kromah has over four years’ experience in the public health field, focusing on disease surveillance. Presently, Musand is a Disease Surveillance Investigator with the division of Infectious Disease and Epidemiology at the National Public Health Institute of Liberia. Musand Melody Kromah conducts investigations related to individuals diagnosed with infectious diseases to reduce transmission. Musand organizes weekly sessions to educate community members on the importance of exclusive and partial breastfeeding which reduces the risk of having a malnourished child. Musand holds a Master’s Degree in Public Health with an emphasis in Community Health. Her studies focused on the effects of malnutrition in the children of teenage mothers. Musand is driven towards disease surveillance to make the public aware of health emergencies similar to the Ebola outbreak to provide for greater response. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship(Africa), Musand plans to continue her work in disease surveillance with a focus on helping in the process of building a resilient health system in Liberia
