Nafiza Khan
Nafiza Khan is the acting CRO – Risk at Land Bank in South Africa. She holds the following qualifications: BA (LAW) (BACCALAUREUS ARTIUM), LLB (BACCALAUREUS LEGUM) and Business Risk Management.
She was appointed: June 2016 as General Manager: Enterprise Risk Management, Governance, Compliance and Ethics; (Acting CRO – Risk from 7 January 2019).
Nafiza Khan is a certified ethics officer, a member of the Compliance Institute and an admitted Attorney (now ex-officio) of the High Court with over two decades of experience across the legal field, collections, credit advisory, fraud risk and loss management and enterprise risk management, compliance, governance and ethics. She is also a member of IRMSA sponsored as part of the Group Membership for Land Bank at the Institute of Risk Management.
Prior to joining Land Bank in 2016, Nafiza worked in two major commercial banks for a collective period of over 15 years. She has served as Cluster Chief Risk Officer for Group Risk, Enterprise Governance and Compliance and Group Communications, Marketing and Strategy. She was responsible for embedding risk requirements including being involved in the Operational Risk Project for Landing AMA (Basel) requirements. She was also responsible for embedding a payments compliance and risk framework and worked with industry bodies (PASA, VISA, MASTERCARD and AMEX), amongst other matters. Nafiza has also during her career chaired Risk Committees.
She has gained experience in governance and compliance frameworks, anti-money laundering, monitoring and ethics management, which saw her play a crucial role in transforming Land Bank’s Ethics Office which is promoting that is promoting ethical conduct and advancing the mission, vision and values of the Land Bank.
Nafiza has extensive and expert knowledge in managing enterprise risks and she is currently playing a significant role in maturing Land Bank’s ERM journey. The support of her team has enabled her to achieve some key milestones in Land Bank. She is passionate about mentorship and coaching and over the years she has coached risk, legal and compliance professionals. She aims to make everyone enterprise risk managers.
