Neo Joyce Tsajoa

Mining Engineer in Training Siyanda Bakgatla Platinum Mine

Neo Tsajoa is a young and upcoming Mining Engineering professional, currently training at Siyanda Bakgatla Platinum Mine (SBPM) located in Swartklip, Limpopo Province– South Africa. She is one of the nominated next-gen leaders by virtue of her membership of AfriMine – an international Public Benefit Organisation aimed at building a community of mining geeks.

She grew up in Brits town, situated in the North West Province, South Africa. Neo holds a Bsc. in Mining Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand which built her tenacity and developed her technical skill sets. Furthermore, she is currently persuing a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration with Wits Business School, which would aid in combining her Mining field development to the required business acumen.

On her journey to becoming a Professional Engineer, she is registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as a Candidate. She is a Junior Associate member with the Association of Mine Managers South Africa (AMMSA) and a Women in Mining SA (WiMSA) member. In addition, she is also an Associate member of the South African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (SAIMM).

Neo’s focus lies in developing her career and becoming a mining expert of the future through active learning. She considers herself priviledged to be under the mentorship of Mr. Coenraad Bothma – the SBPM Spud shaft Production Manager. She holds strong beliefs in never giving up in persuing one’s dreams.
