Olufunmi Adepoju

Olufunmi Adepoju is a graduate of accounting from the University of Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria and qualified as a chartered accountant in 2000. Her work experience spans various sectors of the financial sector including banking, economic research, Risk management and ratings. She has worked in reputable organisations including Prudent Bank Plc, Financial Derivatives Company, Agusto and Co and Chapel Hill Advisory Ltd. While at Prudent Bank, Olufunmi Adepoju worked in the central operations unit of the bank as an asset manager. She was also responsible for booking leases and foreign denominated loans bank-wide. She acted as the back office analyst for the Financial Control Department; capturing all loan loss provision entries for the bank. Funmi also personally handled the reconciliation of the Bank’s account with the Central Bank of Nigeria through out the period she worked in Prudent Bank. Her flair for and interest in credits and Portfolio management led to her subsequent employment at Financial Derivatives Ltd, where she headed the Funds and Portfolio Management Department. Funmi managed the issuance of commercial papers and sourcing of investors in such papers. Her responsibilities included the analysis of current and prospective issuers’ financial condition management and the provision of investment advise to clients (investors).

Funmi joined Agusto and Co in 2004 as an analyst and was responsible for writing credit rating reports on companies in the cement and real estate industries. She was also responsible for writing the Insurance Industry report throughout the time she worked in the firm. Other research report she worked on at various times include the Banking Industry Report, the Nigerian Macroeconomic Overview, Real Estate Industry Report and Stock Market Report. Funmi also worked in the product development unit for a while, where she helped develop the fund rating, municipal bond rating and insurance ratings models. She subsequently rose to the position of the team lead for the Risk Management Department and Insurance Rating Unit. She was part of team that worked with deployment of rating tools for United Bank for Africa (UBA) in 2004 and was the team lead for implementation of credit risk management framework in First Bank of Nigeria and Fidelity Bank Plc in 2005 and 2008 respectively. Funmi resumed in Chapel Hill Advisory as the Head of the Research Department in 2008. She supervised the team that was responsible for writing the daily market report. The team acted mainly as sell-side analysts, thus writing reports to improve the quality of investment services provided by the firm. She resigned her position in June 2009 to start a consulting business.

Funmi is currently the Managing Partner of PearlMutual Consulting Ltd; a firm that offers financial advisory/planning, enterprise risk management and financial training services. Among other assignments, the firm collaborated with Themis Risk Advisory in 2011 for the implementation of an Enterprise Risk Management Framework for Abbey Building Society. Funmi has been on the IBFC Agusto Training Faculty for nine years. She is a CFA charterholder, a certified FRM and a Certified Risk Analyst.
