Oluwafunmilayo Adebimpe Ilori

Oluwafunmilayo Adebimpe Ilori has been a green ambassador and preschool educator for nine years and is founder of iRead Network, the celebrated mobile children’s library in Nigeria. Growing up seeing the damaging and value-eroding educational system in her country, Funmi understood that in order to improve the quality of education, a new approach to learning was necessary. This birthed her dream to build the largest library in Africa, creating direct jobs in the education industry and making a positive contribution to the shaping of educational practices in Africa and closing the gaps in youth literacy by providing access to materials that enhance basic reading and writing skills among women and children. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Oluwafunmilayo Adebimpe Ilori will continue her mission to instill a love of learning in children and ensure equitable access to information by delivering information and skills courses to the doorsteps of women, youth and children.
