Palesa Tyobeka

Palesa Tyobeka is the deputy director-general for the planning and delivery oversight unit in the Department of Basic Education (DBE). She holds certificates in Emergent Literacy (Harvard University), Improving Educational Quality (Harvard University), and Language Teaching (University of Ohio), a BA majoring in English and Psychology (University of Fort Hare), a BEd (University of South Africa), a diploma in the Teaching of English as a Second Language (London School of Education), a Masters in the Teaching of English as a Foreign Language (Reading University). She has taught at Ohlange High School (KwaZulu-Natal); Fumana High School (Gauteng) and Mothimako High School (Limpopo).

Palesa Tyobeka has served in the Department of Education, now the Department of Basic Education, since its inception, in various capacities, including director for development support; director for the Culture of Learning and Teaching campaign; chief director for education human resource and institutional development; deputy director-general for quality improvement; deputy directorgeneral for curriculum management in the general education band; deputy directorgeneral for education human resources.
