Patrick Amour Tignyemb
Patrick Tignyemb has established himself as one of the most effective goalkeepers in South Africa’s Premier Soccer League (PSL) since his arrival in Bloemfontein from Cameroon in 2008/09 season. Since then, he has firmly cemented his position as Clinton Larsen’s first-choice between the sticks. He scooped the PSL’s Goalkeeper of the Season award in the 2010/11 season.
Tignyemb was part of the Cameroonian 2004 African Cup of Nations team, which finished top of their group in the first round of the competition, before losing in the quarterfinals to Nigeria. He also competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics that took place in Beijing, China. He has been capped by Cameroon at youth and Under-23 level.
After having sat out six months due to a head injury he sustained against Platinum Stars in the second half of the 2011/12 season, Tignyemb returned to action in style in the 2012 MTN8 quarterfinal against Orlando Pirates and he produced a Man-of-the-Match performance. The Cameroonian is one of the star names in the Celtic team and he has the safest hands in the PSL.
