Peet is employed since November 2014 at Submex Investment, a company focusing on niche coal projects. He was the CEO of Mmakau Coal from September 2013 to October 2014. Sable Mining Africa appointed Peet as chief operating officer from August 2011 to August 2013. He was the director operations of Keaton Energy from January 2010 to July 2011. He was chief operating officer between April 2009 and December 2009 at Continental Coal. Between April 2004 and March 2009 Peet was managing director of Riversdale Holdings and a business manager at Anglo Platinum from March 2003 to March 2004. He worked at Kumba coal from 2000 to 2003, was mine manager at Iscor’s Durnacol and Thabazimbi mines between 1994 and 2000 and worked as a production manager at Amcoal from 1989 to 1994. Peet started his career at Sasol Coal in Secunda as project engineer from June 1986 to July 1989. He holds memberships of the South African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and was chairman of the northern region and vice president of the South African Colliery Managers Association.
