Philip Smith
Philip Smith is a Socio-behavioural Scientist and the mobile services programme manager. He received his M. Soc. Sci. from UCT in 2011 and is currently investigating behavioural economics towards a Ph. D. in behavioural medicine. He was awarded the Department of Science and Technology Innovation Award for his PhD work. He has worked at the Desmond Tutu HIV Foundation since 2012 and has led the DTHF Mobile Services since 2014. Since joining the Foundation in 2012, Philip has investigated choice architecture and innovative ways of improving decision-making and the uptake of healthy behaviours. These studies include using mobile phone technology to improve health behaviours.
