Professor Sekgothe Makgoatšana

Professor Sekgothe Makgoatšana obtained his BA in Education from UNISA in 1990 and went on to complete her Honours in 1992. He also holds a MA (cum laude) from Unisa and a Dlit et Phil also from Unisa.

Professor Sekgothe Makgoatšana has 10 years experience working in the basic education field in the roles as teacher, senior teacher, HOD and deputy principal. He’s also filled different roles at the University of Limpopo.

In 2004, Professor Sekgothe formed part of the steering committee that founded the Oral History Association of South Africa under the National Archives of South Africa, Department of Arts and Culture (DAC) and in 2005 he served as national adjudicator on the Chief Albert Luthuli Oral History Competition held in East London. He was also Chairperson for the Oral History Association of South Africa for two terms and worked on conceptualizing the association, its terms and policies and developed a concept for its journal.

Since 2004, Professor Sekgothe has served on the national oral history project. This is a DAC project that gives voice and space to history of African people.
