Refilwe Ledwaba

A qualified helicopter pilot, fixed-wing pilot and a remote (RPL, drones) pilot holder, Refilwe is also a flight instructor. An expert in aviation with a career that spans over 20 years in the industry, Refilwe has served as the Vice-Chairperson of the Air Services Licensing Council (ASLC); responsible for the issuing of air licenses (including drone licenses) to new applicants. Her work at the ASLC assisted in ensuring the safety and reliability of air services operations in South Africa and adjudicating complaints of non-compliance.

Refilwe is also the Managing director of the Girls Fly Africa Program (GFAP), a foundation focused on emerging technology programs within the aviation industry. These programs leverage drone technology to teach STEM principles in schools.

She is also a part-time lecturer at various tertiary institutions, specialising in aviation regulation environments and the application of drones in various fields.
