Reginald Cassius Lubisi
Dr Reginald Lubisi was appointed Director-General in November 2010. He holds a PhD from the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom, a BSc from the then University of Natal, a higher diploma in Education and Bachelor of Education degree. Dr Lubisi served as superintendent-general of the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education from June 2005 to October 2010.
He was appointed special advisor to the former Minister of Education Kader Asmal in 2003 and in 2004 as deputy director-general: General Education in the Department of Education. Dr Lubisi has served in various capacities, including being a member of the national advisory group of the Culture of Learning Presidential Lead Project in 1995, a member of the Ministerial review committee on Curriculum 2005, chairperson of the Ministerial Project Committee on the National Curriculum Statement Grade 10-12 and a member of the education advisory committee of the Nelson Mandela Foundation.
He also worked as academic development coordinator in the Depar tment of Mathematics at the University of Durban- Westville and as senior lecturer in the School of Education at the University of Natal.
