Ruqayat Olapeju Giwa

Ruqayat Olapeju Giwa is a fashion entrepreneur with over three years’ experience in the industry. Prior to her venture in business, Ruqayat worked in the private and non-governmental sectors providing marketing and strategy expertise and studied at several Universities in Nigeria and the UK. Ruqayat Olapeju Giwa is currently Founder/CEO of Covered and Chic Limited, a Nigerian Fashion Company that produces clothing and promotes local brands that make fashionable apparel targeted at women that are Muslim. Her business, born out of personal need, was founded to fill the gap in the Nigerian fashion industry for fashionable clothing that is covered. Due to the business challenges she tackles, she is now committed to upholding a cluster of similar business in the industry by providing an inspiring, learning, and networking platform to induce export and increase overall longevity in business. After the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Ruqayat hopes to start and run the Nigerian Modest Fashion Industry Summits to strengthen and support this cluster, as well as establish and run a social enterprise that would offer fashion courses to people that are disadvantaged.
