Sadeeq A. Mai-Bornu
Prior to joining NNPC in 1987 as a Project Engineer, he began his working career in July 1985 at the Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited (ASCL) as an Engineer in the Real Estate Development Department, responsible for the construction of the 10,000 housing unit Steel Township.
Sadeeq A. Mai-Bornu joined Nigeria National Petroleum Company (NNPC) in 1987 where he started his career as a Project Engineer and served as member of many project teams such as NNPC Corporate Telecoms Network (CTN), PPMC Escravos Tank farm, Butanisation project for the construction of 9 LPG depots.
From 1996 to 2004, Mr. Mai-Bornu served as Technical Assistant to 5 consecutive Group General Managers in Engineering & Technology Division where he was renowned for his exemplary leadership and drive to coordinate the various departments, manage the capital projects portfolio and develop the strategic plan which resulted in valuable contributions that aligned with Management’s aspirations for effective project delivery.
From 2005, when he became a Deputy Manager, Cost Control Unit in the Technical Services Department, he has had a distinguishing management career as Manager in the Process Engineering Department, General Manager, Joint Ventures in the Renewable Energy Division (RED) in February 2011, covering role as Group General Manager, RED on 2 different occasion and Managing Director, Nigerian Petroleum Dev Co Ltd (NPDC) where he was able to ramp up oil production from about 87,000 barrels oil per day (bopd) to a record 155, 000 bopd.
With flair for coaching & mentorship programmes and knowledge transfer, Sadeeq was recognized as a Learning Champion. He was actively involved in Management Development Programmes, member of Interview panels for Management promotions as well as Graduate Employment. He is a team player, dedicated and hardworking staff. He is widely travelled, has attended several management/leadership courses.
