Safiatou Nana

Safiatou Nana has over two years of experience in the energy field. Currently, Safiatou is working to set up a start-up named SG Energetics, which focuses on offering innovative solutions through an off-grid solar system for rural populations. Safiatou Nana is the co-founder and general secretary of the Youth for Energy Saving organization which brings together young people and other stakeholders to raise awareness about energy saving in schools, university residences, and other public buildings in Burkina Faso. She also runs a blog (www.energyinafrik.blogspot.com) dedicated to energy and climate issues as well as innovations and technologies in these fields, particularly in Africa. Safiatou holds a master’s degree in Energy Engineering. Additionally, she is the CEO of Yiri Accessoires, a fashion brand that designs, produces, and sells handbags and other accessories made locally with African materials. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Safiatou plans to use her acquired skills to continue her commitment to improving living conditions in her community and to fostering innovation in her professional area. She also expects to develop her start-up focused on energy and the environment fully.
