Sarah Choane

Ms Sarah Choane was appointed to her current position in 2007.

She holds a BCom (Hons) degree from the University of South Africa and has participated in the University of the Witswatersrand and Harvard’s senior executive programme hosted locally and abroad. Ms Choane served as a chief financial officer and deputy director-general: Corporate Services at the then Department of Land Affairs. In 1996 she joined the former Department of State Expenditure (now part of National Treasury) and was later appointed as a deputy director for Finance before being promoted to director: Financial Management.

Her professional career also includes serving as chief director for Corporate Services, and as chief financial officer in National Treasury. Ms Choane was a trainee accountant at Theron van der Poel, before becoming an audit manager at the firm. In 1992 she joined Bophuthatswana Broadcasting Corporation as a television accountant and proceeded to become a general manager: Finance at the broadcaster
