Saxe Perry Gateka
Saxe Perry Gateka is the founder and director of Humuriza FM radio, a radio station broadcasting in the central region of Burundi. He manages group of 25 journalists, including 15 women and 10 men. Perry wants to enlarge the coverage area of the radio station, until it can broadcast in the whole country. He also plans to create a radio television program to empower youths and give jobs to other youths. The television will be as a tool to train many youths to get involved in our country’s development. Since age 12, Perry developed the idea of a radio station by assembling mechanical items to hang on the tallest tree in town. He then made a transmitter and installed other devices which resulted in a radio that could be heard over eight kilometers. His makeshift radio could only be head by few attentive neighbors but later on, a whole central city could listen and then it covered three provinces. GaSaPe (Saxe Perry Gateka) radio will provide a great opportunity to young graduates who wish to acquire job experience through internships. Stayed in Africa.
