Sindi Nene
Sindi Nene is a South African singer best known as one of the Top 14 finalists on the sixth season of the M-Net reality competition Idols, in 2010.
Sindi Nene spent time growing up in Durban, Rustenburg, Johannesburg and now finds herself back in Kwa-Zulu Natal. She studied music at UKZN, where she also learnt to play bass guitar. She currently resides in Glenwood and spends her free time gigging around Durban.
In a period of 4 years in the entertainment industry, Sindi has made a name for herself. She studied Jazz and Popular Music Diploma at UKZN School of Music and is quite multi talented. She is a lyricist, singer, composer and arranger as well as a band leader and is the most famous female bass player in the country, soon after she hit the spotlight during MNet SA Idols VI, interest is pouring in for Sindi to perform at corporate events around the country as she is an artist who does corporate events, concerts, charity work and has performed at South Africa’s biggest jazz festivals, to date she is one of South Africa’s youngest musically educated artists. Miss Nene is known and praised for her electrifying stage presence, her mature voice which causes goose bumps whenever she opens her mouth and everlasting energy whenever she hits the stage.
Coming out as the Top 3 finalist on Mnet’s reality musical TV show South African Idols VI 2010, she was the talk of the country during the 7 month period in which the show was running. Sindi has earned herself the praise of many South African legendary artists, performers and producers, some saying “She is the dream of every producer” quoted Arthur Mafokate.
She has been named “the most famous Durban female bass player” by the ISolezwe Newspaper, and has been named South Africa’s favourite by the Sunday Times Newspaper. She has been featured in more than 50 Newspaper and Magazine articles, and was the most talked about or trending SA celebrity on the internet, Sindi was also named one of SA’s most beautiful woman by the South African Beauties blog and has been featured in many leading magazines such as Fair Lady, YOU, Glamour magazine and many more, and has been interviewed for various radio stations and TV programs such as YFM fm, Ukhozi fm, High Veld 94,7fm, East Cost Radio, Gagasi fm, Heart fm and many more. She has also made appearances on SABC’s Real Gobhoza, Selimathunzi, Ses’khona, and the SABC 1’S Breakfast Morning show, SA Comic Choice Awards DSTV, Crown Gospel Awards on SABC, The Wild Première on MNet, MNet Idols VI, All Access, V-Entertainment, Show Bizz Report and many others and is also featured in SA’s leading blog Famous Faces. Besides music, she is also a social butterfly and a fashion icon who wears clothes only designed for her by her personal stylist and designer Mzwandile Mathonsi and was recently named one of the best dressed celebrities in TV Plus during her appearance at The Wild Premiere, a new MNet soap.
She has performed at the South African Jazz Education Conference (SAJE), MTN Jazz Festival and many other top stages in the country. Sindi is currently signed by the internationally acclaimed and operating Record Label Universal Music for a 5 year, 5 album contract and is doing the final touch ups of her 1st ever debut album “INFINITE” which is due to be released on the 3rd of June 2011 with the single hitting the airwaves in the 1st week of May, “I’ve never been so excited in my life, this is by far the best thing that has ever happened to me”, she was quoted.
