Sipho Innocent Sydney Ntombela
Sipho Innocent Sydney Ntombela was appointed as acting Director-General in 2012. Prior to this, he served as the Deputy Director-General responsible for Corporate Services at the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. He holds a BSc degree from the University of Fort Hare, a BEd and post-graduate higher education diploma from the former University of Natal, and a Master of Management degree in Public and Development Management (P&DM) from the University of the Witwatersrand.
Before joining the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Mr Ntombela served in several of public sector leadership roles, including acting superintendent for Education Management KwaZulu-Natal; deputy director for Training Policy; director: Employment Practice; chief director for Employment Practice and Career Management; and acting Deputy Director- General at Department of Public Service and Administration. He has attended several global conferences, workshops and study tours, including visits to South Korea, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Lesotho, Namibia, Tanzania and Ethiopia. He has served as a state representative on the Commission for Employment Equity.
