Sola Mabadeje
Sola Mabadeje is the Company Secretary of Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria Limited and the Head of Legal, Nigeria and West Africa. She is a talented legal professional with over 18 years’ experience and has spent the most of her legal career within the banking industry.
Sola Mabadeje started her legal career at the law firm of Ajumogobia & Okeke, a corporate and commercial law firm based in Lagos, where she advised foreign and local clients on various corporate, commercial and capital market transactions. Her career within the banking industry started in 2002 when she joined Ecobank as a legal officer. She later moved to Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria Limited in March 2009, where she rose to become Deputy Head, Legal and Company Secretariat. She continued her career as a Corporate Governance Executive at Old Mutual Nigeria, where she led the Legal, Compliance and Company Secretarial teams from May 2014 to November 2017.
Sola returned to Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria Limited in February 2018 where she has primary responsibility for leading the legal function across the West Africa Cluster and at the same time, managing and co-ordinating the Company Secretarial activities for the Bank and its subsidiaries in Nigeria, ensuring compliance with governance standards and applicable laws.
She holds a Law degree from the University of Buckingham, a Masters of Law degree from University of London, both in the United Kingdom and has been called to the Nigerian Bar.
