Sylvester Akpah

Sylvester Akpah

Sylvester Akpah is a network engineer who specializes in network infrastructure deployment, wireless securities, and cloud computing. He believes that Ghana can increase its efforts to improve access to healthcare delivery through information communication technology (ICT). Currently, he is a lecturer with the Computer Science and Engineering Department at the University of Mines and Technology in Tarkwa, Ghana. He is also the executive director of Firm Health Ghana Foundation, an NGO that is focused on preventing kidney diseases through early screening and education. Sylvester Akpah also volunteers as the Western regional coordinator for Operation Smile Ghana, an NGO that provides free medical surgeries to persons with cleft lips and palates. Sylvester holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Information Technology from the Ghana Technology University College and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology respectively. He is currently pursuing his doctoral studies at UMaT, focusing on developing a secured cloud-based healthcare system using a hybrid cryptography model. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Sylvester plans to apply his new skills, knowledge, and experiences to non-profit management.
