Thato Violet Mochone (Tay)

Tay is an award-winning radio host at Lesotho’s state-owned radio station. She attended the National University of Lesotho and has over five years’ experience working in the broadcasting Industry. She is an advocate for youth and women empowerment as well as the LGBT community. As an activist journalist interested in social justice, she is committed to making views of oppressed and exploited communities heard through journalism. Thato is also a volunteer fundraiser for an orphanage in her hometown and tutors children from a local public school in English and Geography. She is currently involved in a campaign, Restoring the Dignity of a Girl Child, which aims at providing the girl child with sanitary towels during her menses to help her stay in school. Upon completion of the program she plans get more involved in outreach programs focused on social justice, as well as airing such on radio.
