Thato Wame Keoreke

Wame Thato Keoreke is a medical doctor who has 3 years working experience both in South Africa and Botswana.She is currently serving under the Ministry of Health and Wellness in Hukuntsi Primary Hospital, Kgalagadi North District. She obtained her MBChB degree at the University of Pretoria in 2013.She is very passionate about preventative medicine especially on the spectrum of non-communicable diseases.Apart from her daily job, her efforts are currently directed towards revolutionising the quality and awareness about safe male circumcision in effort to reduce HIV transmission in the district. She has served in a non-profit organisation where she spearheaded a project that offered fortnightly tutorials and social support to abandoned children from all over Africa.She contributed in multiple of the projects undertaken by the organization including supporting homeless victims of the Mozambique floods with toiletries and non-perishable food items.Her passion towards serving the community led her along with a group of selfless young people to a small village in Swaziland that was affected by the HIV pandemic where they rebuilt dilapidated homesteads, counseled broken families and strengthened orphanages. Having experienced the full journey of the life of a cancer patient through her sister her mandate is to foster cancer screening programmes, raise awareness on different malignancies to curb late diagnoses and ease the burden of healthcare in the Kgalagadi area.She continues to empower patients and families affected by cancer by sharing her personal experiences.
