Toochukwu Nwokedi Emerem
Toochukwu Nwokedi Emerem has over seven years’ experience in local and international eye-care facilities, with roles in assessment, diagnosis, treatment/management, counselling/education, and patient referrals. He is the proprietor and principal optometrist at NeoVision Eye Center, Owerri, Nigeria, a private optometry clinic that provides qualitative and affordable eye-care services to the public, and also trains and mentors young/student optometrists. He has frequently voluntarily offered his knowledge and skills at free medical missions. Toochukwu Nwokedi Emerem holds the degree of Doctor of Optometry from Imo State University, Owerri, where he also developed leadership qualities. Through public eye-health lectures, free vision screening, and eye-care services, Toochukwu engages in campaigns against blindness as a socioeconomic challenge in line with the World Health Organisation’s Vision 20/20 (Right to Sight) initiative. Upon completing the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Toochukwu plans to continue his work and expand his team and network to ensure a wider reach, especially to underserved rural dwellers.
