Tumisho Masha
Tumisho Masha is popular South African actor from Mamelodi, Pretoria with a BA in Drama from Wits University. He started his career in the theatre doing Shakespeare, comedy and protest theatre . He has acted in television shows and films, done voice work on award winning commercials, present cool television shows and specials, dj on radio, MC their corporate functions and motivate their staff.
His film and television credits as an actor include being the first South African actor to portray iconic leader Nelson Mandela in the international film Mandela’s Gun directed by legendary John Irvin.He recently guest starred in NBC/Universal’s latest hit series Blood Drive.
His international film credits include Beyond Borders, Drum and Catch a Fire. Tumisho Masha’s last international television work was the hit British TV Film Kidnap and Ransom, the popular BBC drama Silent Witness, Emmy Award winning HBO series No1 Ladies Detective Agency as well as the hip social awareness Film Shuga – Staying Alive on MTV.
Tumisho Masha was recently nominated for a SAFTA™ Award for his portrayal of Gibson Mosia in the award winning series Saints and Sinners and previously as Jackson Mokaba on Isibaya also on Mzansi Magic. He won a Best Actor SAFTA™ Award in 2012 for his portrayal of Modise Tladi on The Wild MNET’s critically acclaimed daily drama.
He is widely remembered as Dumisane Thusong from SABC 3’s Isidingo and as a presenter on TOP BILLING South Africa’s premiere lifestyle magazine show. Tumisho Masha also hosted the 12th and 13th annual South African Music Awards (SAMAS). In 2008 he hosted the Miss World beauty pageant that was broadcast worldwide.
Tumisho Masha’s Producer credits include the SABC 1 television series Isozo Connexion, the short film Untilted Axis, the short film The Beginning screened at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival and the SAFTA™ Award winning made for tv film Stick Up.
