Ulrike Kahbila Mbuton
Ulrike Kahbila Mbuton, a junior lawyer of the Cameroon Bar Association, currently serves as a human rights officer at the African Union. She has volunteered with the HURCLED Center for over four years and has extensive experience working with other local and international human rights organizations. Kahbila holds a Master in Governance from the Pan African University and an LL.M. in Human Rights and Democratization from the University of Pretoria. Kahbila is passionate about improving access to justice for women and girls, especially victims of rape and other forms of sexual and gender-based violence. As a volunteer at the HURCLED Center, she works with a team of lawyers from the Abalu Bobga and Co. law firm to litigate rape cases and offer pro bono legal services to victims of human rights violations. She is in the process of creating a community-based organization. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, she hopes to effectively manage this organization to expand its pro bono legal services program, establish human rights clinics, and offer basic human rights education in local languages.
