Umar Farouk Abdulrasheed

Abdulrasheed Umar Farouk has over three years of experience in the field of construction, specifically the construction of clean energy cookstoves, institutional stoves, and biogas production. Currently, Umar Farouk Abdulrasheed is the chief executive officer of Methano-Green Energy, where he focuses on using clean cooking technology to: reduce the problem of indoor air pollution and related health issues, curtail deforestation to combat global warming, alleviate poverty by drastically reducing the cost of cooking fuel, and positively improve the education and security of rural children who spend considerable time transporting wood for fuel. Umar holds a Bachelor of Science in Botany from Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, Nigeria. He is also a Global and Nigeria Alliance for Clean Cookstoves partner. Umar is driven to meet the need of thousands of households for cleaner, safer, healthier and environment-friendly mode of cooking. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship and Professional Development Experience (PDE), he hopes to have sufficient skills, experiences, ideas, and strategies that can be implemented in his business to maximize profitability and gross social impact on his immediate environment and the African continent at large.
