Vicky Vilakazi

Victories Vicky Vilakazi started her musical career in the early 90’s as a Backing Singer to BenjaminDube.She also became a session musician featuring in recordings by Artsits like Hugh Masekela, Sibongile Khumalo and Mama Mirriam Makeba

She was instrumental in the founding of Family Factory, a gospel outfit that revolutionalized Gospel Music and pioneered the mainstream commercializing and popularization of the genre. She Co-Founded Joyous Celebration and instrumental in the founding of Grammy award winning Soweto Gospel Choir.

She had developed and natured numerous Talents, that today some are now established Artists

1.Brian Temba a solo Artist and Former Simba leading role player in World Acclaimed Lion King Production

2.Sibongile Makgathe a lead vocalist for Soweto Gospel Choir

3.Butana Ngobeni now Musical Director and Keyboard player for Mbongeni Ngema’s Productions

4.And numerous others who are still part of Soweto Gospel Choir .

KORA and SAMA award nominee, Vicky Vilakazi, has come a long way since her Family Factory and Joyous Celebration days. Now an established artist of note, she is carving out a musical and social legacy that will be hard to match, for generations to come, spreading a wing across genres (Soul Music, Contemporary, African Standards ). Having traveled Africa and the rest of the world throughout her music career, sharing stages with top national and international artists (Mama Afrika Mirriam Makeba, Bra Hugh Masekala, Michael Jackson, Toto), she has received immense exposure and become more of an international brand. She recently returned from Europe and USA where she toured extensively, performing at sold out venues in places such as Denmark, Sweden.

She is currently a Director at VILAKAZI ENTERTAINMENT GROUP, a company specializing in Creating, Producing & Touring International Productions, Music Publishing, they have for the past 5 Years  Touring Productions across Europe, Africa, Singapore.She co-wrote the 2010 Soccer World Cup Song with American Grammy Award king of R&B R.Kelly. And is the Founder of the World Acclaimed and Touring SOWETO SPIRITUAL SINGERS.

Vicky has recently signed with Masego Music/Spirit Music and has just released her 5th Album titled “THE VOICE” is available in Shops Nationwide
